Dr. Julian Torres earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine and is passionate about serving patients through compassionate, community-centered care. His professional interests include women’s health and addiction medicine, and he is especially motivated to provide care in rural communities where access to services can be limited. As a Spanish-speaking physician, he looks forward to helping bridge communication and access gaps for patients in the region.

Originally born in Porterville, California, Dr. Torres was raised in Grants Pass, Oregon, from the age of 2 and considers Southern Oregon home. His interest in medicine began in 2012 after watching his sister, Ana, graduate from nursing school, an experience that inspired him to pursue a career in health care and showed him the opportunities possible for Latino professionals in medicine.

Dr. Torres chose the Roseburg Family Medicine Residency because of its welcoming culture, strong emphasis on patient care and commitment to serving rural communities. During his visit to the clinic and throughout the interview process, he was struck by the positivity and supportiveness of the faculty, staff and residents. He appreciated the program’s investment in getting to know applicants personally and felt that Roseburg was a place where he could grow into the physician he hopes to become.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Torres enjoys golfing, camping, hiking, rafting, cliff jumping, ice skating, and spending time outdoors. He is also active in youth ministry at his church, where he volunteers with young people and plays acoustic guitar during services. In addition to music, he enjoys video editing and describes himself as a “mediocre chess player.” He comes from a close-knit family led by his mother and includes several sisters, nieces and nephews who continue to inspire him. His fiancée, Doreli, will soon be joining him in Roseburg as they prepare to start their next chapter together.
