KC’s Message: Welcome to the Community Connection

Welcome to the inaugural issue of Community Connection, Aviva Health’s monthly e-newsletter for the people of Douglas County.

This communication tool is something we’ve been talking about and planning for a long time. We’re pleased that we’re finally able to publish this and share with you important information about our many medical, dental and behavioral health services that are available through eight different clinic sites in Roseburg, North County (Drain, Elkton and Yoncalla), Sutherlin, Myrtle Creek, and Glide.

These, of course, are uncertain and worrisome times. COVID-19 has dominated headlines of late and forced all of us to adjust to a new normal of social distancing, wearing masks, working from home, homeschooling and more.

I know you, like all of us here at Aviva Health, are concerned about the local impact of coronavirus, and I assure you we will continue to do our part to keep you informed of the latest information about the pandemic here in Douglas County, how we’re responding, and our plans as we move forward.

So, in addition to sharing news about our efforts to work with you to improve your Health, restore your Hope, and rejuvenate your Life, we also intend to keep you updated on coronavirus so you can be informed and make smart decisions about your health care and well-being as we push forward to defeat this invisible foe.

For the past several weeks Aviva Health has taken many steps to ensure our community is as safe as possible, while still delivering the exceptional clinical care you have come to expect from us. Among them, we started telehealth services, giving our patients the opportunity to virtually visit their provider and receive the feedback, resources and treatment they need to maintain their good health without having to step foot in one of our clinics. We’ve also been working closely with the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team and Douglas Public Health Network as they carefully lead us through this with the goal of saving as many lives as possible. Thanks to their efforts and your cooperation, our county is faring exceptionally well while other areas of Oregon continue to struggle with coronavirus.

We’ve also been privileged to work with Loggers Pizza and Tap House on its “Feed it Forward” campaign, making sure underserved Douglas County residents and health care workers on the front lines of this fight find the nourishment they need to make it through these difficult times.

And we won’t let the coronavirus distract us from accomplishing the goals that we have set to make our organization better for you. One of those goals is the launch of a new family medicine residency program where new doctors will train and learn everything they need to know to deliver the care you deserve right here in Douglas County. I’m pleased to report that program is on track and set to launch this July. You can read more about our first class of residents in this issue of Community Connection.

At the end of the day, we’re blessed to live and work in a community that comes together in the face of adversity to help its people get through hardship. From the UCC shooting, to Snowmaggedon, to the COVID-19 emergency, each one of you have played an important role to come to the aid of others. That’s really what it’s all about. And that’s really what we’re all about.

So on behalf of Aviva Health and a grateful community, thank you for your support. We look forward to continuing to be of service to you for Hope, Health and Life. We appreciate your subscription and look forward to sharing more in the coming months.

Sincerely,

KC, CEO of Aviva Health
