Dr. Gray Dawson is a family medicine physician at Aviva Health and Roseburg Family Medicine Residency core faculty member, where he combines his passion for patient-centered care with his dedication to teaching and mentoring the next generation of healthcare providers. He earned his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, and completed his family medicine residency at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in Camp Pendleton, California. Dr. Dawson also holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

With more than two decades of service as an active-duty Navy physician, Dr. Dawson has practiced in diverse settings across California, Washington, Nevada, Missouri, Afghanistan, England, and Greece. His special interests include functional medicine, procedures, obstetrics, inpatient medicine, patient safety, and quality improvement. He is particularly passionate about fostering a learning environment for students, residents and team members. Inspired to pursue medicine during high school and college by his aunt, Dr. Bonnie Potter, MD, he remains driven by the same commitment to compassionate, high-quality care that she instilled in him.

Originally from San Jose, California, Dr. Dawson and his family — his wife, Dr. Anna Fellmann (also a faculty member at Aviva Health), their two young children, and his three grown children — enjoy exploring the beauty of Oregon. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his kids, flying single-engine airplanes, homebrewing wine and cider, making music on various instruments, and staying active outdoors through hiking, running, swimming, biking, kayaking, fishing, and bow hunting. He also looks forward to experiencing the local fishing, hiking trails, wineries, and nearby ocean.
