Dr. Lorie DeCarvalho serves as Aviva Health’s Vice President for Behavioral Health Services. She is also core faculty for the Roseburg Family Medicine Residency Program, where she is the Director for Behavioral Sciences for the Residency.

As a clinical psychologist for 20 years and therapist for over 25 years, Dr. DeCarvalho is a Board-certified and Fellowship-trained expert in trauma and PTSD with a subspecialty in military trauma. Prior to joining Aviva Health, Dr. DeCarvalho created and opened several behavioral health clinics in Central California for a large hospital and rural health clinic network. She also served as an adjunct associate professor of Psychiatry for Loma Linda University Medical Center for over 11 years.

Dr. DeCarvalho earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Loma Linda University in 2003. She completed an APA-accredited residency at the Jerry Pettis VA Medical Center and a Post-doctoral Fellowship at the National Center for PTSD in Honolulu, Hawai’i. She served at the Honolulu VA Medical Center and Tripler Army Medical Center.

In her practice, Dr. DeCarvalho now primarily works with young adults, adults, and the elderly. She treats individuals with anxiety, depression, those coping with acute or chronic medical illnesses, adjustment to family, health, relationships, work, and other significant life stressors. Dr. DeCarvalho works with LGBTQ issues, grief, loss, women’s issues, and those who desire short-term therapy to help them move to the next level in their career or life goals. She focuses on the whole person and integrates current, effective therapies based on a patient’s specific needs. It is her goal to educate and empower individuals to help them reach their highest life potential.

Outside of work, Dr. DeCarvalho enjoys spending time with her family, reading, photography, gardening, and spending time in nature.
