Jared is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with the State of Oregon Board of Social Workers and a primary care behavioral health (PCBH) provider. With nearly 20 years of experience, he has delivered PCBH interventions to thousands of individuals in Douglas County.
As Aviva Health’s director of PCBH and clinical training, Jared oversees the supervision and training of PCBH providers and graduate-level internships of behavioral health (BH) students. He also serves as core faculty for the Roseburg Family Medicine Residency, providing didactic instruction and continuity clinic training for the program’s 24 medical residents.
Jared specializes in brief intervention approaches in primary care settings and was instrumental, alongside the late Dr. John Gardin, in establishing integrated primary care behavioral health in Douglas County. His therapeutic approach blends cognitive behavioral therapy with solution-focused and acceptance and commitment therapies. He addresses emotional health concerns such as stress, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, and depression, as well as chronic medical and health conditions. A trained tobacco treatment specialist through the Mayo Clinic, Jared has extensive experience supporting smoking cessation and the cessation of other addictive substances.
Jared is a Roseburg native and Roseburg High School graduate. After living out of the area for a time, he returned to the area in 2006 with his wife and children. Outside of work, he is actively involved in his family’s musical and athletic pursuits, including the Umpqua Valley Youth Orchestra, and enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible.
