Derwood Basham, DO, is board-certified by the American College of Osteopathic Physicians and is a member of the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of Oregon.
Growing up in Appalachia, Dr. Basham was inspired to pursue medical education due to a lack of primary care services in his community. He was born in Rocky Mount, Virginia, and spent 50 years living around the coal fields of Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. Work with Indian Health Services drew him to the West Coast. After a decade, an opportunity to teach in the Roseburg Family Medicine Residency program led him to become an adjunct faculty member and full-time primary care provider at Aviva Health’s main Roseburg campus.
Dr. Basham lives with his wife of more than 30 years.
