Medical Student Clinical Rotations

Medical students interested in rotating in Roseburg, Oregon, during their third or fourth year should submit a completed application (link below) to the Roseburg Family Medicine Residency office via email to Jessica Shearer.

Download the Family Medicine Rotation Request Form

Our office will assist in securing you a rotation with the Roseburg Family Medicine Residency faculty at our main family medicine practice site, Aviva Health. We strive to do our best to accommodate requests, however, submission of an application does not guarantee rotation placement. Once your request is received and processed, our office will email you to confirm if your request was approved/denied. If you do not hear from our office in 3-4 weeks, please send an email to Jessica Shearer to follow up on your original request.

ROTATION DATES:

Currently, in order to maximize the number of student rotations we can offer and ensure that we can accommodate 4th Year Sub-Internship Rotations, we ask that students select from the following set rotation dates:

2024 – 2025 Rotation Dates
7/1/24 – 7/26/24
7/29/24 – 8/23/24
8/26/24 – 9/20/24
break (one week)
9/30/24 – 10/25/24
10/28/24 – 11/22/24
11/25/24 – 12/20/24

*The rotations dates around the breaks may have some flexibility. Please reach out individually to inquire.

If your rotation schedule does not allow you to modify your dates or your requested rotation dates are different than listed above, please reach out to us via email and we will see if there is any flexibility around that rotation block. We prefer that all 4th Year Sub-Internship rotations are 4-weeks in length.

      • Please note 4th year medical students wishing to apply to the residency program will be assigned a “Sub-Internship” rotation where they spend two-weeks on the inpatient service at Mercy Medical Center and two-weeks in the outpatient clinic setting. Your school will need to have a current, active Affiliation Agreement with both Aviva Health and Mercy Medical Center.
    • Students must submit all clearance documents to Aviva Health Human Resources at least 60 days prior to your rotation start date. Clearance documents include:
      • A letter of good standing from your medical school
      • A copy of your school’s malpractice and liability insurance

      • A copy of your ACLS/BLS cards
      • Your immunization records, including Hep B and a negative TB/PPD within the last year.
    • Students must attend orientation at Aviva Health prior to or on their first day. During orientation medical students will be issued an Aviva Health identification badge. Your identification badge must be worn at all times while in the clinic.
    • Questions about Aviva Health’s Affiliation Agreements, clearance documents or orientation? Contact Dana Weaver at 541-672-9596, ext. 127.

ADDITIONAL STEPS IF YOU WILL ROTATE AT BOTH AVIVA HEALTH AND MERCY MEDICAL CENTER:

  • Your school must have an Affiliation Agreement in place with Mercy Medical Center if you will be rotating on the inpatient service. • Once your rotation is approved, students must submit all required clearance documents to the Mercy Medical Center Medical Staff Office at least 45 days prior to your rotation start date. Please reach out to MMC Director of Medical Staff Affairs, Melissa Ragon at melissa.ragon@commonspirit.org or 541-677-4373 for list of required documents.
