Dr. Michael Uyeda earned his medical degree from De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute and is passionate about full-spectrum family medicine, preventive care, chronic disease management, procedures, and serving underserved and rural communities. He is especially interested in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and believes it can play a vital role in helping physicians provide timely, effective care in rural and resource-limited settings. His goal is to become a dependable, well-rounded family physician who can care for patients across all stages of life while building long-term relationships within the community.
Originally from Hayward, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Uyeda developed an early interest in medicine through a natural curiosity about how things work and a desire to help others. Over time, his experiences in research, clinical medicine and working with underserved communities strengthened his commitment to becoming a physician. Family medicine appealed to him because of its emphasis on caring for the whole person, building lasting patient relationships and supporting individuals and families throughout every stage of life.
Dr. Uyeda chose the Roseburg Family Medicine Residency because of its welcoming culture, strong sense of community and commitment to training compassionate, community-oriented physicians. During the interview process, he was especially impressed by how genuine and supportive the residents, faculty, staff, and administration were. He looks forward to growing into the kind of physician who can adapt to a wide range of patient needs while meaningfully serving the people of Douglas County.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Uyeda enjoys hiking, carpentry, woodworking, and auto mechanics. He enjoys hands-on projects and finds satisfaction in building, repairing and creating things, whether working on furniture, cars or home projects. As he relocates to Roseburg, he is especially excited to explore the Umpqua River, Umpqua National Forest and the many hiking trails and waterfalls throughout Douglas County while experiencing Oregon’s outdoors for the first time as a resident.
