Stephanie Thompkins, DOFamily Medicine Resident

Dr. Stephanie Thompkins earned her medical degree from Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine and is passionate about serving rural communities through comprehensive, patient-centered care. Following residency, she plans to work with Veterans Affairs to fulfill a service commitment and hopes to continue practicing in a rural setting focused on community outreach and reducing health care disparities. She is especially interested in lifestyle and integrative medicine and looks forward to incorporating those approaches into her future practice.

Dr. Thompkins first became interested in medicine during a biomedical science class in high school. After later working as both a certified nursing assistant and medical scribe, she realized she wanted to pursue a career as a physician. She chose the Roseburg Family Medicine Residency because of its close-knit culture, strong procedural training opportunities, rural setting, and emphasis on lifestyle medicine. She also values the program’s relationship with the local VA hospital, where she looks forward to completing rotations.

Born in Camp Lester, Okinawa, Japan, while her father served in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Thompkins spent much of her childhood moving between communities before eventually settling in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she attended high school. She later moved to Utah for medical school and is excited to begin a new chapter in Oregon.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Thompkins enjoys reading fantasy and science fiction, crocheting, indoor gardening, and powerlifting. She also has a talent for memorizing songs filled with random facts and trivia. She recently married her husband, Alex, a software engineer, and together they are relocating to Roseburg with their dog, Frankie, an Australian Shepherd and Blue Heeler mix. In her free time, she looks forward to exploring Oregon’s waterfalls, visiting Crater Lake National Park, and trying dune buggy adventures along the coast.
