Aviva Health Limits Dental Services to Preserve Organization’s Supply of Personal Protective Equipment

Aviva Health is temporarily limiting dental visits at its Roseburg, Sutherlin and Myrtle Creek locations to emergency procedures only in an effort to preserve its supply of personal protective equipment (PPE), which includes masks, gowns, gloves and goggles.

Nationwide, healthcare organizations are experiencing shortages of PPE due to the COVID-19 emergency. Aviva Health, too, is experiencing the pinch despite efforts to restock its supplies. As a result, the organization is working closely with the county and state government officials to ensure these vital resources are available to our patients and staff.

The greatest need for PPE is in Aviva Health’s family medicine practice, where symptomatic patients and the clinical teams caring for them are required to wear at a bare minimum surgical masks to lessen the risk of transfer of the COVID-19 virus. Limiting dental visits at this time allows Aviva Health to address the needs of a growing number of patients who are exhibiting cough, fever and other signs of COVID-19.

This decision is one of many Aviva Health has made to do its part to bring this crisis to an end as quickly as possible and, in the meantime, deliver services to community members with the greatest needs.

Aviva Health will continue to monitor its supply of PPE and intends to return to normal dental visits as soon as possible.
