Rural Family Medicine for the 21st Century
Aviva Health
Aviva Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). It is a non-profit healthcare practice that provides high-quality, cost-effective primary medical, dental and behavioral health services to anyone regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
First seeing patients in 1991 as the Open Door Clinic, the effort of a community task force intent on providing healthcare for the underserved. Located on Pine Street, the clinic provided 1,241 visits that first year. Aviva Health became an FQHC in 2000 and has grown to eight service locations providing primary medical, dental and behavioral health services. In 2019, Aviva Health provided nearly 55,000 patient visits.
Aviva Health is an FTCA-deemed facility. The Federally Supported Health Centers Assistance Act of 1992 and 1995 granted medical malpractice liability protection through the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) to HRSA-supported health centers. Under the Act, health centers are considered Federal employees and are immune from lawsuits, with the Federal government acting as their primary insurer.
Mercy Medical Center
Mercy Medical Center is the leading provider of comprehensive healthcare services and programs for the more than 107,000 residents of Douglas County, Oregon.
Our history of service in the region dates back more than 100 years to when the Sisters of Mercy raised $12,000 from generous local donors to build Roseburg’s first hospital. The 25-bed Mercy Hospital opened Feb. 22, 1909, on the bank of the South Umpqua River at the intersection of Harvard Avenue and Madrone Street.
