MISSION & VISION

Our Mission

At the Area Health Education Center of Southwest Oregon (AHECSW), our mission is anchored in a deep commitment to the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Established in 1994, we’ve dedicated ourselves to improving healthcare access in the underserved counties of Lane, Douglas, Coos, Josephine, Jackson, and Curry. Recognizing the unique challenges of our region, marked as a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA), we are tirelessly working to bridge the gap in healthcare services. Our focus extends beyond immediate needs, addressing the looming concern of an aging healthcare workforce. We believe in the power of partnership and community engagement to foster a healthier future for Southwest Oregon.

Our Vision

Our vision at AHECSW is a future where every individual in Southwest Oregon has access to quality healthcare. We envision communities where healthcare shortages are a thing of the past, and where sustainable healthcare is a reality for all, irrespective of their location. By nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals through our innovative educational initiatives like the Sustainable Community Model (SCM) and collaborations with esteemed institutions like Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), we strive to ensure that the heart of rural Oregon is well-cared for by skilled, compassionate healthcare providers. We see a future where the cycle of healthcare empowerment continues, with each generation of providers inspiring and training the next.
